About Gerry
For more than three decades, Sunset Beach has been at the center of my family’s happiest memories. From our first trip in 1990—when my daughters played in the surf and we crossed the old pontoon bridge—I knew this place was special. In 2018, I purchased a home here, and by 2020, I retired full-time to Sunset Beach. Since then, I’ve been honored to serve on the Planning Board, contributing to projects that preserve our town’s character while guiding thoughtful development.
My professional journey began in the automotive industry, where I spent 37 years with General Motors before becoming an entrepreneur. At mid-career, I took a leap of faith and built a group of car dealerships from the ground up. That work required multimillion-dollar negotiations, complex relocations, and hands-on leadership. It also taught me resilience, transparency, and the importance of community impact—all values I carry into public service.
On the Planning Board, I’ve helped rewrite the Unified Development Ordinances, supported the revitalization of Sea Trail’s golf amenities, and advised on development projects like Angel Trace. My focus has always been the same: protecting Sunset Beach’s natural beauty while fostering a vibrant, sustainable community.
At home, I’m a father of three daughters and now a grandfather. I know firsthand how important it is to preserve the magic of this town for future generations: the ocean, the dunes, the quiet charm, and the neighborly spirit that makes Sunset Beach unlike anywhere else.
